Before the age of column stills, when Rye Whiskey took America by storm (the first time), Rye was made by Scottish and Irish settlers in Maryland using ancestral methods brought over from Europe. Now a near extinct spirit, Epoch Rye brings back this low rectification, pot-distilled spirit in modern form, calling back to Maryland’s earliest Rye Whiskey heritage. Epoch Reserve is the flagship expression, the core identity, the face of the Epoch Rye brand. It’s mature (4+ years in American Oak barrels). It’s sophisticated. It’s still made in the most painstaking methodology; the same way Rye Whiskey was made in the mid 1800s, when Rye Whiskey was America’s favorite spirit. It is a near extinct spirit brought back to life in its historic home: Maryland. 100% Rye - with 25% malted Rye, adding distinct tropical fruit noted to the natural Rye Spice.
