Wine-grower, distiller and merchant, the Frapin family has accumulated a vast estate over the ages including 593 acres of remarkable vineyards in the heart of Cognac’s Premier Cru area, the Grande Champagne.
On the hillsides of Segonzac around Chateau Fontpinot, the Domaine keeps alive the age-old methods of grape growing, harvesting, pressing, distilling and ageing. Appearance: dark mahogany, antique oak color, yet with pure transparency
Aroma: overwhelming layers of fruit, dried flowers, linseed oils growing to pastry dough, honey, maple syrup, nuts, walnuts, dry raisins, dried plums, dark cacao, tonka beans, coffee with hints of vine and elderflower
Palate: solid, grand, lush, rich, musky, spicy, with a succulent core of rancio at its peak
Finish: aromas and flavors in a perfect unending balance, intense, rich and elegant with touches of spice and pepper
Cellar Master's Note: a mythical blend of Folle Blanche from the late 1800s and Ugni Blanc. The renewed blend that was produced for the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1889 when the Eiffel Tower was inaugurated.
