One of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, Glen Ord was founded in 1838 on a site which had formally been much used by smugglers. Situated on the edge of the Black Isle west of Inverness, Glen Ord continues to malt it's own barley, supplying several other Diageo distilleries , and uses the long fermentation and slow distilling methods followed there for generations. The Distillery was lit by paraffin lamps until 1949 with a water turbine as the main source of power. As you can imagine A.D. Rattray's legacy was founded on prominent historical values that can still be seen today.
