Distillery Fact - Founded in 1824 in the village of the same name which lies at the foot of the Cairngorm mountains. In 1888 the buildings, previously the town’s corn mill, were almost entirely destroyed by fire as a result of which a large quantity of its fine whisky was either lost in the flames or disappeared. An unusual part of the distillation process involves a unique irrigation ring which surrounds the necks of the stills, drenching them with cold water which increases reflux and helps produce a lighter and cleaner spirit.
